Letter to Gordon Brown MP
Letter to Gordon Brown MP
The Rt. Honourable Gordon Brown MP
Prime Minister
10 Downing Street
London
Dear Mr. Brown,
The threat to our British way of life is deeply disturbing. It is subtle, insidious and more difficult to counter because it comes from within the country as well as outside. The British people are not asked by their political leaders if they wish to weaken or surrender those rights, decision-making powers, institutions, laws and self-governing habits which alone can guarantee a degree of individual freedom enjoyed by few other nations of the world. Britain’s 3 main political parties are slowly, steadily and stealthily dismantling 1000 years of democracy. We are now ruled largely by unelected officials. EU Commissioners are appointed, not elected, and Regional Authorities are nothing more than EU-directed quangos. First, the Constitutional Convention; then the Regional Assembly, then the SW Councils, now a Grand Committee. The first three are unelected bodies whilst the fourth is made up of elected MPs who can claim to fulfil the Maastricht / Nice commitment for elected regional government. What, if anything, do you intend to do about this scandalous state of affairs which Labour preside over, aiding and abetting every move. Is there any reason why you should be voted in again ?
Yours sincerely,
Stuart Guppy
