Trevor Colman was born in the Cornish village of St. Breward on the Bodmin Moor in 1941. He attended Camelford and Tavistock Grammar Schools, leaving at the age of 15 to become a kettle boy in a farm supplier’s yard.  In 1958, he started work as a court clerk in the Magistrate's Clerks office at Tavistock before deciding to join the Devon Constabulary (later the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary) in 1962.

As a policeman, Trevor walked the beat and drove a patrol car, but served mainly in the CID throughout the two counties of Devon and Cornwall as well as in London and Dorset. Trevor has witnessed the changing face of Britain at first hand and, as a member of the thin blue line has seen a lot of life. During his time in the force he dealt with everything from simple theft to murder, including serious assaults, woundings, child abuse and arson.

In 1979 he served on Operation Countryman, the largest corruption enquiry of its kind ever conducted into the activities of officers in the Metropolitan police.  He successfully secured a number of convictions and was able to prove that widespread planting of evidence had resulted in the wrongful conviction of a number of people for robbery who were then subsequently released from prison.

He was Deputy Senior Investigating Officer on the Ivy Batten murder in East Devon in 1997/98 and again, he successfully helped to secure a conviction.  During the course of his service he received three Judges commendations and two Chief Constable's commendations. Above all, Trevor’s strong sense of justice, and a passionate belief in putting the record straight has contributed to the cause he serves today.

For five years (1994-99), Trevor became script advisor to the popular TV series 'Wycliffe'.  He is himself a published author of both fiction and non-fiction.  'Incident into Evidence'  is a non-fiction, police procedural book published in 1989 by McGraw-Hill.  His fictional short story 'The Game' was a prize winner and was published in 1995 in 'Raconteur' a volume of short stories.  His short story 'The Gift' was broadcast on BBC Radio Four in 1994 and a series of five, fictional short stories based on the Exe estuary were all published (during 2001-02) in the magazine Devon Life. During the same period of time Devon Life published a series of articles by him on jazz music and jazz musicians.

He joined UKIP in 1999, frustrated by years of witnessing Brussels exert ever greater control over the UK’s laws and long-held customs. He has been a full-time activist ever since.  He has written material for speakers on the EU (entitled 'Saving Our Country') as well as having written, designed and produced four films (in video and DVD formats) which have sold in their hundreds of thousands.  The first video was 'Britain and the EU - the Facts'.  This was followed by 'The Euro - the Facts'.  The third video, 'Shockwaves'  was a bestseller.  It sold all over the world and was featured on satellite television for three months, resulting in the producer of the programme being sacked.  The fourth DVD/video, 'Britain on the Brink' features amongst others Sir Patrick Moore, Christopher Booker and Vladimir Bukovsky (the well-known Russian dissident)

In his leisure time, Trevor is a keen golfer (13 handicap and, thanks to so much time battling in Brussels, rising steadily higher!) He is also a traditional and revivalist jazz fan, having been a semi-pro musician playing all the brass instruments but specialising on trombone.

Trevor has stood as a UKIP candidate in European Election (2004), in General Election (2005) and local elections (2006).  He is currently a UKIP MEP for the South West of England and was the lead candidate for UKIP in the 2009 European Elections in the South West.
